You will receive the application in Acrobat format; you will need the full Acrobat program to complete and save. You can submit by attaching the completed application to your email to IMMPA.

Once you are approved to sit for the exam, you must then submit the form with payment for the exam date you select.

Questions are based on reference material.

7. How much does the Certification cost?
CMMP fees will be determined and posted on the website. Charges will include member fees, non-members fees, registration, application, cancellation, exam, recertification and Emeritus fees.

All fees are subject to change at any time. The CMMP Application Fee is non-refundable and all CMMP fees are non-transferable.

8. What if I send in my application with payment and my application is denied?
The fee is valid for two years following the application submission, with a non-refundable fee to cover the cost of processing your application. If you are denied you will be informed of in exactly which sections there were point deficits and we will send you a new blank application stamped "PAID" for you to re-apply. We strongly encourage you to apply for the next examination.

9. What if I take the CMMP exam and fail?
Keep in mind that your application is good for two years. You may register for subsequent exams during those two years; the exam fee is required every time a candidate tests, since it covers the cost of the exam administration. 18. Can you explain the Difference between Certification and a Certificate?
People often ask, "What is the difference between certification and a certificate?" To help avoid confusion in the industry, we have provided you the comparison below.

Certification

Certificate

Results from an assessment process that recognizes an individual's knowledge, skills and competency in a particular specialty

Results from an educational process

Typically requires professional experience

For newcomers and experienced professionals

Awarded by a third-party, standard-setting organization

Awarded by educational programs or institutions often for-profit

Indicates mastery/competency as measured against a defensible set of standards, usually by application or exam

Indicates completion of a course or series of courses with a specific focus (different than a degree granting program)

Standards set through a defensible, industry-wide process (job analysis/role delineation) that results in an outline of required knowledge and skills

Course content determined by the specific provider or institution, not standardized

Typically results in credentials to be listed after one's name (CMP, CSEP, CMM)

Usually listed on a resume detailing education

Has on-going requirements in order to maintain; holder must demonstrate he/she continues to meet requirements

Demonstrates knowledge of course content at the end of a set period in time

Certification generally refers to an earned credential that demonstrates the holder's specialized knowledge, skills, and experience.

Certification differs from a certificate program, which is usually an educational offering that confers a document at the program's conclusion.
